Abstract
A multidisciplinary research project analyzing the role of digital tools in the migration dynamics of young people in sub-Saharan Africa.
Context
Digital technology has penetrated all African societies and transformed migration networks. In Senegal, nearly 99.3% of households have a digital device. These technologies affect not only communication, but all aspects of migrants' lives: information on routes, access to services, and the development of migration plans.
Problem
How are digital tools and social networks used by African migrants to build their migration projects and integration pathways in France? How do these technologies shape perceptions of Northern countries and the desire to emigrate?
Approach
Multi-sited research in France (Angers, Nantes) and Senegal (Saly-M'Bour), combining ethnographic surveys, focus groups, social media analysis (OSINT), and participatory workshops. A multidisciplinary approach combining sociology, geography, management sciences, and computer science.
