PHYMEARIS Research Project

Adaptation of Phymea's EARBOX system to wheat and sunflower and the development of a method for acquiring and processing plant temperature for applied purposes

Group :  Information, Signal, Image and Life Sciences

Labelling: none

Duration: 2 years (2021-2023)

Funding: ANR

Staff involved from LARIS: David Rousseau, Nacir Boutra (Engineer on project)

Project partners: PHYMEA

Abstract:

The project is part of the digital revolution via the use of sensors coupled with artificial intelligence and applied here to agriculture.
PHYMEA, a company specialising in Agtech, and the LARIS laboratory, which specialises in digital information processing applied to plants, are proposing to enter into a new partnership as part of the PHYMEARIS project. The systems developed by PHYMEA (such as the Earbox) are widely applicable (multiple crops). The bottleneck to go after different markets is in the development of algorithms. The Deep Learning revolution allows us to reduce the cost of developing these algorithms and thus to respond to more requests. The LARIS team has this expertise. LARIS is currently piloting a European project on the use of technologies such as those developed by PHYMEA. The collaboration will enable the TRL of the prototypes tested by LARIS in the framework of this European project to be increased. The relaunch plan will both increase PHYMEA's capacity for action and also accelerate the transfer of technology to end users of LARIS' work in deep learning applied to plants. LARIS will contribute its knowledge in deep learning and its experimentation network (technical institutes, variety testing office), PHYMEA will contribute its expertise in the field of plant instrumentation.
